On 12th of December, the Chiconelane Community School received a visit from the Pikinico Children's Center team, including Patricia Ruas, Nurima Ribeiro, and Malema Ribeiro — the three founders of Pikinico — theater teacher Macamo, music teacher Neuilozy, and four kindergarten teachers: Anita Majante, Carlota Alafe, Julieta André, and Alice Mandlate.
The event brought together 50 children from Chiconelane, 41 of whom are enrolled in the school for the 2025 school year, and others who had attended in previous years. Also present were other children who live near the school, the three teachers from the Chiconelane School, the leader of the Chiconelane community, Domingos DJango, the head of the Chiconelane Circle, André Mathe, the three representatives of the School Management Council, the president, Benvinda Maibaze, the Secretary, Jacinto Mondlane, the Treasurer, Verónica Bila, and the members of the water well management council, the Guard, Dércio Machava, the person responsible for opening the water, Raquel Machava, and the AIDGLOBAL team — Education Assistant Technician, Ledieta Bombe, and Logistics Assistant, Filimão Mondlhane.
Pikinico, a children's center based in Maputo, stands out as the first institution to provide financial support to the Chibuto Community Schools, created by AIDGLOBAL, through a sponsorship model. During this visit, the children of Chiconelane enjoyed moments of fun, namely watching a dramatization of the tale “The Monkey and the Rabbit,” participating in dances, songs, and games. The Pikinico team also offered a Christmas lunch, gifts, and food baskets to the school's teachers and members of the school board.
The community praised the President of AIDGLOBAL, Susana Damasceno, for the initiative to create the schools in the district of Chibuto and for fighting to ensure the strengthening of infrastructure to support early childhood education, namely the well-being of the children of the village of Chiconelane, through the creation of the school, support in the construction of classrooms at the Chiconelane Primary School, the construction of a water well ensuring access to drinking water, and the installation of the Mini-Girafa Solar, which provided electricity to the population and allowed the school's educators to offer a wider range of educational and social activities.
