A inovadora Bibliotchova
AIDGLOBAL won a competition launched by UNESCO as part of CapEFA - ‘Capacity Building in the context of Education for All in Mozambique’.
In 2010, AIDGLOBAL pioneered the concept and model of the Bibliotchova. This is a mobile library, based on a typical Mozambican tchova, for schools that don't have the physical space for a library, as part of the Literacy and Adult Education programme in ten districts of Mozambique: - Nampula Province: Mossuril, Ribaué, Monapo and Ilha de Moçambique; - Sofala Province: Nhamatanda, Caia and Gorongoza; - Inhambane Province: Funhalouro, Mabote and Pande. In 2013, the bibliotchova also arrived in Portugal, within the
Juju Ant Movement, under the name of Juju's Tchova.
WE PROPOSE
Mobilise reading materials and encourage literacy.
Create models adapted to the context, to create an environment conducive to reading, easy to access and with appropriate learning materials.
WHAT WE DO?
- Listing of libraries and bibliographic references for newly-literate adults; - Identification of reading resources with appropriate content for newly-literate adults, in Portuguese or the relevant local language; - Establishment of 15 mobile libraries and 5 fixed libraries, with books and other reading materials; - Definition of guidelines on: > Mobile libraries, their management and maintenance; > Creation of reading promotion activities around libraries; > Creation of activities to mobilise bibliographic resources. - Provincial training on: > Travelling libraries, their management and maintenance; > Reading promotion activities in libraries and mobilisation of bibliographic resources.
