“A Formiga Juju na Cidade das Papaias” was presented by Ana Colaço, an animator for RFM.
The story of “A Formiga JUJU na Cidade das Papaias” (The Juju Ant in the City of Papayas) was performed last Saturday, February 2, at the São Domingos de Rana Municipal Library in Cascais by Ana Colaço, an RFM animator and supporter of the Juju Ant Movement.
The story, written by Cristiana Pereira, Walter Zand and Mia Temporário, gave rise to the Juju Ant Movement, which aims to respond to the challenge of promoting literacy among vulnerable Mozambican children by awakening their creativity and love of reading. Thanks to the solidarity of private donors and companies, Formiga Juju's book has traveled to various child support institutions in Maputo, Gaza, Sofala and Niassa, as well as being extended to Angola and Cape Verde by a group of volunteers. In a landmark move, Formiga Juju arrived in Lisbon last August to launch the Movement in Portugal, which was now led by AIDGLOBAL. On that occasion, Formiga Juju was entertained by the special participation of the group “Os Contrabandistas de histórias” (The Story Smugglers). “A Formiga Juju na Cidade das Papaias” is part of the bibliographic collection of the “Rede de Bibliotecas Escolares do Distrito do Chibuto, Moçambique”. The work is part of the promotion of the values of Development Education, namely through awareness of environmental preservation.
