António Gouveia, José Candeias and Sofia Maul gave voice to the Mozambican ant.
The 84th edition of the Lisbon Book Fair welcomed the visit of the Mozambican ant, this time accompanied by his friend Karibu, to address the issue of non-discrimination in a fun way, on May 31, June 1 and 13, in partnership with Leya and the Lisbon Libraries.
This year's program included the presentation of the second children's story published by the Movement, “A Formiga Juju e o Sapo Karibu”, in the voice of prominent storytellers, the exhibition of Juju's Tchova, a community library on wheels, and activities to paint drawings by Formiga Juju, in order to foster creativity through art and bring Mozambican culture closer to Portuguese children. On the weekend of May 31 and June 1, the LEYA space hosted a dramatized reading of the story “A Formiga Juju e o Sapo Karibu” by António Gouveia, a storyteller from the international group Contabandistas (May 31 - 11:45 am) and José Candeias, presenter/filmmaker for Antena 1 (June 1 - 11:00 am). The Lisbon Libraries welcomed Sofia Maul, also from Contabandistas and an AIDGLOBAL volunteer (June 13 - 15h30). Juju is a Mozambican ant written by Cristiana Pereira, Walter Sand and Mia Temporário, who guides children on an adventurous journey across the African continent, promoting the spread of values such as solidarity, diversity, creativity, unity, inclusion, participation, environmental protection and citizenship. In Portugal, the movement is represented by AIDGLOBAL, an organization which, since 2005, has been working to promote Education for Global Citizenship, promoting actions to raise awareness, inform and mobilize civil society, alerting them to the local and global causes of development problems and inequalities. Children and parents discovered with the storytellers the adventures of the second tale of Juju the Ant, who was accompanied by his friend Karibu, a frog who is mute, raising awareness of the issue of non-discrimination against people with different abilities, explaining that there are different ways of communicating, including sign language.
