On January 24 and February 3 and 4, AIDGLOBAL provided online training to 57 teachers and youth educators on the challenges of Climate Justice and Gender Equality.
The training sessions, lasting four hours, took place as part of the project
"Ecoality: Young People and Local Authorities Together for Climate and Gender Justice" and aimed to transform classrooms into spaces for active citizenship and response to ecological crises. They were certified by the Orlando Ribeiro Teacher Training Center and the Loures Oriental Training Center.
In line with the National Strategy for Citizenship Education, the training courses aimed to enable teachers and youth educators to implement participatory and transformative non-formal education activities in schools and associations, promoting Global Citizenship Education and the active involvement of young people in issues such as Climate Justice, Gender Equality, and Human Rights.
With the emergence of climate change and the growing importance of gender equality, this was an opportunity for teachers to update their knowledge and become agents of change in school communities. The impact of these issues goes far beyond the classroom, influencing society as a whole, both now and in the future.
In Portugal, Ecoality is promoted by
AIDGLOBAL, in partnership with the Municipality of Loures. The project's core mission is to raise awareness and a sense of shared responsibility for individual and collective behavior, given the interdependence and intersectionality of ecological crises.
